SPYROS SYRMOS

Spyros Syrmos is an Athens based musician and music composer. Drawing on his broad academic and artistic experience that spreads across Greece, Italy, and the UK, he creates sounds and musical pieces in interaction with works from other art forms, thus participating in a shared exploration of the secret dialectic lurking among the various manifestations of art as a phenomenon.

Spyros has studied guitar at the National Conservatory of Athens and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (PGdip in performance), as well as lute in Wales. He then pursued composition studies in Athens and at the contemporary music departement of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, where he obtained his PGdip in Composition. In 2013, he won the "Flourish Opera competition" with his "Off West End" opera "The Blank Canvas". He has composed a number of pieces inspired by the music of South Italy and he has performed at festivals and music theaters in Greece, as a principal member of the group ANTIDOTUM TARANTULAE.
